Way to go Stingrays! We finished 7th out of 71 teams today and had a great celebration at Taco Mac!  Enjoy the rest of your summer and don't forget to RSVP for the banquet asap!!!  See you August 13th!

Friday July 1,

Dear Stingrays,

GREAT swimming yesterday! Our Stingrays finished 2nd overall in the meet yesterday! Awesome!! Check the website for new photos posted.

Check www.atlantaswimming.com tonight after all 4 sessions are complete, to see if your swimmer or relay made finals.  If you swam on a relay yesterday, it is the same relay tomorrow...so check for your relay also.  Relays go first again so if you are in a relay only you will be out before the bulk of the meet starts.  If your swimmer cannot swim tomorrow for any reason please call Coach Debbie or Shannon Cole or Lindsey Wacker, especially if you are on a relay, so we can get a replacement if needed.

Arrive 1 hour prior to warm up tomorrow.  It gets very hectic on deck! Parents will be helping again with relays then the Jr Coaches will get the younger ones to the bullpen. The older swimmers can get themselves to the block for 2nd session. You may arrive up to 90 min prior to session to get seats which we highly recommend as there is only 1 pool tomorrow for both boys and girls.

Parents, we need your help tomorrow as we do not have access to multiple heat sheets. Once you arrive you need to purchase a heat sheet yourself and write all your swimmer's events on his/her arm BEFORE sending him/her down to the deck prior to warm-up in the Tech pool.  Also write what they are swimming.  Many of the younger swimmers had no idea what they were swimming  (back/breast/etc) so please write it on their arms also.  Write name, age, and STBR on thier back for all swimmers under age 11.  All swimmers then stay on deck with the team.  If your swimmer leaves the team we cannot be responsible for getting him/her to a race so please tell your swimmer to stay with the team so no one misses a race for finals.

Parents, also thanks SO much for your generosity! We have collected a very nice monetary gift that will be split between all coaches, including Coach Debbie.  We will be presenting this gift with your thank-you cards to the coaches at the awards banquet.  If you haven't, but still want to donate to the gift fund for coaches,  please give cash or check made out to Stonebrier Swim
Team to Ricki Shaw.  Feel free to thank the coaches in person also, as it means so much to them! Thanks so much to Ricki for heading up the banquet and gift collections!!!  Don't forget to give her your banquet reservation ...it is going to be fun!!! We have some great ideas for this year's party.

As in the past all swimmers 10 and under automatically receive trophies.  If your 11 and up swimmer wants a trophy, and NOT a certificate (which is what they usually get) at the banquet, please email that information to Beth Jones, head of awards by July 9th.  Also, if your swimmer goes by a different name, or nickname, that is not his/her name on the roster then you also need to email Beth the exact spelling of the name you want on your trophy or certificate.  Each swimmer gets a personal award from Coach Debbie at the banquet.  Beth Jones can be reached at:  pbjfamily@gmail.com

Finally, we welcome all team members and families at 8:30 pm tomorrow night to Taco Mac in Duluth (on Peachtree Industrial Blvd) to celebrate our great season!

GO STINGRAYS!!!

You may enter 90 min prior to session to get seats, swimmers will be on deck during meet and need to be on deck 30-45 minutes before warm up on Saturday with arms marked and names on back

Saturday night we will celebrate the end of a great season at Taco Mac at 8:30 PM on Peachtree Industrial in Duluth for all swimmers.  Come join in on the fun!

Please congratulate your swimmer on a job well done this summer!  They have all improved so much! Thanks so much to all our hard working parents and coaches!  Don't forget to sign all thank you cards for the coaches (Ricki Shaw has them) and drop in some tip money for the coaches should you desire. No tip is too small, and they do appreciate it.  Feel free to personally thank any coach that made a significant impact on your swimmer. Also give Ricki your banquet reservation for the banquet on Saturday, August 13 at 6 pm.  It will, as always, be a fun time for the kids!

GO STINGRAYS!!!

This week's meet is TUES at St. Ives.   No outside food or drink is allowed and they will not sell heat sheets.  They will email us heat sheets tomorrow afternoon and I will forward them to you, hopefully by 2PM so you can print them for the meet.  St. Ives says they have a lot of deck chairs that we can use to watch the meet but we are also welcome to bring our own.  The pool parking lot is your 2nd left once you enter the club. There will be overflow parking in the 1st left with a stairway down to the pool lot and more overflow parking past the pool lot and in the main club lot.

We still need 2 timers for boys pool, lane 8, 2:30-6:00 at Tech for Thursday.  Please email Susan McKnight at sgminteriors@bellsouth.net if you are able to do it!!

COACHES GIFTS AND BANQUET:

We are trying to collect money for the coaches gifts and team banquet.  The monetary gift will be divided amongst all of the coaches. Please remember to bring cash or checks to the meet tomorrow.

It would be a HUGE help if you could return the attached banquet form with your payment tomorrow.  If not, we will be accepting payments till August 1, 2011.  Thank you cards will be on the table at practice,  please make sure that you have your child sign the card.

Finally....
If anyone picked up a youth small team t-shirt at Highland Park with Bren or Brendan K on the tag let us know!

GO STINGRAYS!

Friday June 3,

In order to minimize emails, we have tried to consolidate communications into a weekly email.  This week's will be the lengthiest as it is the first.  Please read in detail to minimize confusion this season.  Also, our website, www.stonebrierstingrays.com is updated frequently and is a good resource for the schedule and directions.  It also includes a manual with lots of information for those new to the team.

This email will cover information regarding VOLUNTEERING, OUR FIRST MEET, SUIT/SPIRIT WEAR, the KIDS FOR KIDS MEET and LAPS FOR LORI&SARAH.

VOLUNTEER INFO:  (contact:  Susan McKnight @ sgminteriors@bellsouth.net)

Each week we will send out the volunteer schedule for the upcoming week.  Attached is the parent volunteer schedule for our first meet this Thursday, June 2nd at Seven Oaks.  The schedule was given out at our team meeting last Sunday.  If you were unable to attend or did not receive the schedule, please let Susan McKnight know and she will put a copy of the schedule for all meets in your child mailbox at practice.  If you need to switch with another team parent, please find emergency contact information in the front of the file box.  DO NOT REMOVE this list!  Please write down contact information if needed.  It is your responsibility to find a volunteer replacement and you will need to let Susan know ASAP of any changes.  All parents are required to fulfill their shift requirements in order for their kid(s) to swim on our team.

Upon arriving at the meets, check in with Jamie Gowen at the volunteer table.  She will be handing out name badges (and stop watches if you are timing)  for shift workers at each meet.   Please contact Susan McKnight prior to Thursday if there are any name/shift changes regarding your badge so as to accurately reflect your duty that meet.   At the end of your shift, please return all name badges and stop watches to Jamie.  1st shift timers may relinquish their stop watches to 2nd shift timers.  If you are unfamiliar with the job you've been assigned, please speak with Susan for clarification.

There will NOT be any volunteers in charge of Bullpen this year!  All parents are responsible for getting their swimmers on deck 6 events prior to their event.  Look for the event numbers, typically on the life guard chairs at meets so you can keep up.  If you are scheduled to work the meet, please be sure another parent is responsible for getting your child on deck on time or he or she will miss his or her race!

MEET INFORMATION:

The first meet is this Thursday, June 2, at Seven Oaks.  Check our website for directions via mapquest from our pool.

Swimmers should arrive at 430 and must swim in your Stingray suit (or solid black for 15 and up) AND stingray cap.  Show your spirit and wear your t-shirt too!

Thursday morning practices are at 8:30 am and are for ALL swimmers to practice relays.  Swimmers will get their races marked on their arms by jr coaches which helps decrease Thursday night chaos,

1 heat sheet per family will be provided Thursday morning at practice or at the meet

Do not leave the meet early without talking to Coach Debbie...your swimmer is very likely to be on a relay and relays change as the night goes on

Mailboxes have forms and ribbons weekly, ribbons are available within 1-3 days after the meets.  Check your family emergency phone info on the ROSTER in the front of the mailboxes, PLEASE CHECK AND  write in any and all information needed to contact you should you be needed for a child's emergency, ROSTER cannot be removed from the mailboxes so please edit and replace as needed

Sunday May 29,

These are the fliers for the fundraiser. We will have the fundraiser on Saturday June 4th. If you were not at the meeting Sunday, please read the attachments to see what our fundraiser is all about.

We have 2 forms. One is to hand out to businesses if you’d like to solicit businesses and one is for the swim team members to keep track of their collections and to turn in. You can check whether you want your funds to go to Sarah, Susan Komen 3 Day or both.

Please let us know if you’d like to donate anything to sell on the morning of the 4th. Donations can be water, sports drinks or snacks of any type. We will sell those during the time frame of 7:30 – 11:30 and take up forms and money at that time. If you don’t mind doing a shift, please let us know. We are hoping to get 2 people per shift. The shifts will be from 7:30-8:30, 8:30-9:30, 9:30-10:30 and 10:30-11:30. If your child is participating, they can swim their laps during practice. That will free up the lanes after practice for those that want to participate that are not on the swim team. Anyone in the neighborhood that doesn’t belong to the swim team can swim laps after practice is over between 10:30 – 11:30.

Thank you!

Tuesday Feb 23,

Dear Stingrays,

We are removing all glitches (we hope!!) from our new online registration system.  You will have to do 2 separate online registrations again this year.  1 for Stonebrier and 1 for ASA (our swim league) with 2 separate fees.  Both links should be on our website next week. We apologize for the inconvenience of 2 registrations but this cannot be avoided. You are a returning user to the ASA system so that should go very quickly. The website is being updated daily.  We plan to go live with registration starting next Tuesday, March 1st as planned.  Please see your email next Tuesday for your registration code.  Please do not share codes with new swimmers as they must contact us for their proper code.  You will have a code based on if you are a resident of Stonebrier, or returning non-resident swimmer.  Again, all returning swimmers have a place on the team and Coach Debbie wants all her Stingrays to return this summer!  Registration of new non-resident swimmers will take place the last week of March so please register asap once you receive your code to confirm your place on the team this year.  We are planning to cap age groups so that there aren't too many swimmers in an age group.  Please contact us should you have any questions and watch for instructions to register starting March 1st.  Please visit the website for the fees and schedule for 2011.  Fees have been LOWERED this year for both residents and non-residents thanks to 2010 sponsorships. We look forward to another great season!
Regards,
The Stingray Board

Thursday Jan 27,

Dear Stingrays,

Stonebrier Stingray 2011 registration will start online in March.  Coach Debbie is returning to take her Stingrays through another great season!  The first meet is June 2 and the championship meet at Georgia Tech is June 30-July 2.  Please see website at www.stonebrierstingrays.com for details and check your email in late February for registration.  All returning swimmers and residents of Stonebrier are guaranteed a place on the team.   We want to see all our Stingrays back!  Any new non-resident swimmers may be able to join the team in certain age groups, based on the needs of the team, in April.  We are finalizing the date for suit sizing but the team suit is required for all swimmers under aged 15.  This year, we are offering the team suit, the team suit without logo, or a plain black racing suit for all teens aged 15 and up on the team.  Swimmers are no longer allowed to swim at meets in other type practice suits.  We want to show our Stingray spirit!  Most teams change their suit style every 2 years but we do not do this so suit swapping is allowed! Team caps will be provided for all swimmers. There will be pre-season Sunday practices starting in April at Swim Atlanta as we have had in the past.  Please email any questions to stonebrierswimteam@hotmail.com, otherwise watch the website and your email for upcoming registration in March.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

GO STINGRAYS!!!
